Two USC football players were arrested July 4 on charges of breach of peace, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Defensive end Everson Griffen and linebacker Jordan Campbell, both juniors, were arrested along with three others in Nantucket, Mass.
The paper reports that USC coach Pete Carroll has been made aware of the incident, and that he hasn't issued any suspensions.
The Auburn Tigers are lagging in one recruiting regard: early verbal commitments.
Gene Chizik's staff has lined up nonbinding pledges from eight prospects so far, compared to 19 as of July 9 in Tommy Tuberville's class last year. This is Belle Glade, a place Miami safety Randy Phillips is proud to call home. And he's even prouder that he's trying to show the next generation a way out. No guns. No gangs. No fighting. That's what we've got to get into these kids," Phillips said. "We've got to keep these kids positive and show them, right now, what happens when you make the right decisions. I made the right decisions. Too many guys, they made the wrong ones."
For the next three weeks, this is the mission for Miami's football team
Charlotte University Trying To Start College Football Program
The timing could hardly be worse for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte to be leading a major fundraiser seeking to raise $20 million so the school can start a football program.
Unemployment is more than 11 percent in this city so reliant on financial institutions. Numerous construction projects have stalled or been scrapped. Housing prices have plummeted and discretionary spending slashed.
